A lone dragon traveling through the mountains before day break - Think of this as the spiritual successor to Blue Dawn Rhapsody.
After reading the first three issues of ImagineFX I really wanted to try a more painter-like style in Photoshop. I can be shot later for doing this without reference, this was really just me getting the feel for a new style. I love how this came out, but I kinda miss my linart, I'll probably try a new way of incorperating it into a painting in future. And I don't know about anyone else, but I really miss doing digital painting in Painter Classic. I hope I win a copy of Painter IX in that comp I entered in ImagineFX. Failing that, I've got some saving up to do.
Oh yeah, and you might spot the faint watermark I stuck on there. Any ripper should have one hell of a time trying to get rid of that and my sig without making it look flaming obvious. And if they manage it, why are they nicking other people's work when they're already that skilled in Photoshop?
Time taken: Lost count after 10 hours.
Done in Photoshop CS with a Wacom Graphire 3 A6 tablet.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I love this one, it is so realistic. Reminds me of some of the spiritual dragons I believe in. I still have yet to fully know what my dragon spirit looks like...sigh...oh well...I will find out when I return home to God.
You did quite an excellent job with this! You used color to your advantage in this work, and I like the monochromatic, low saturated blues that you've used here. The way you pushed the colors really helped to give this a realistic, arctic feel to it, and the colors have a lot of depth and body to them. You have a real eye for rendering backgrounds; the ambient light and texture just jump out at you. Really fantastic.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Nice painting effect, the brush strokes make it look very 'human'. If you know what I mean.
